PDEA busts big-time Sarangani drug ring

General Santos City – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has dismantled the big-time drug syndicate “Primo,” operating in nearby Sarangani province, following the arrest of its key leaders, including a village chairman, in simultaneous anti-drug operations in Maasim, Sarangani last Saturday.


PDEA regional director Cesario Gil Castro said PDEA operatives, backed by Army soldiers and PNP-Special Action Force personnel, swooped down on the houses of high-profile drug suspects, including barangay chairman Rajik Kudarat in Barangay Tinoto, Maasim.

The raiding team arrested Kudarat, a second termer village chair, who yielded some 15 grams of shabu worth P75,000, and several firearms, including a .9mm Ingram sub-machine pistol, an M-16 rifle and several ammunitions.

The lawmen also raided the residence of Jhon and Rosatima Hailen in Purok 3, Barangay Tinto which resulted in the seizure of some 80 grams of ‘shabu’ worth P400,000, a .45 caliber pistol; a fragmentation grenade, P350,000 in cash and jewelry.


Castro said the raiding team also raided the house of another drug ring member Romeo Gulam. Seized from him were about 10 grams of shabu worth P50,000 and several firearms, including  three M-16 Armalite rifles  and a .30 cal. Carbine rifle and several ammunitions.

 “We have been intensifying our anti-drug operations targeting high-profile drug suspects and narco-politicians,” Castro said.

Charges for illegal possession of illegal drugs and firearms have been filed against the arrested suspects.
