Parish scholar arrested for church robbery in Cebu

CEBU CITY -- A scholar of the St. Joseph the Patriarch Parish here was arrested Tuesday in connection with stolen donations worth more than P400,000, police said Wednesday.

Alexander Lumapac was arrested in Barangay Basak San Nicolas after trying to rent a room.
A new motorcycle, flat-screen TV, and clothes were recovered from the suspect.

On Sunday, the suspect allegedly also attacked a former nun who had kept the key to the office where the donations were kept.

Police believe that the suspect had intended to kill the church worker since she was able to recognize him.

The parish, under the leadership of Monsignor Alfredo Romanillos, will file cases of burglary and frustrated homicide against Lumapac.
