NPAs strike Lorenzo companies in Davao

The New People's Army reportedly launched three simultaneous offensives on the companies owned by the Lorenzo family, including a box plant in Mandug, Davao City, the Macondray Plastics plant in Panabo and another location still to be verified at around 2 to 3 am on April 29.

Some 80 NPA guerrillas reportedly burned the warehouse in Mandug.

A military truck responding to the incident was hit by an improvised explosive device in Tigatto, Buhangin reportedly placed by the NPA, but a fish vendor was reportedly hit and is now given medical attention.

The Lorenzos figured in the news when their Lapanday Foods Company guards blocked agrarian reform beneficiaries to claim their area in Madaum, Tagum City despite an installation order by the Department of Agrarian Reform last week. Last December, company guards shot and wounded seven farmers. [Source: Kilab Multimedia]
