Starrex Van with minors on board, intercepted in Cordova

Nine children on board a van were supposedly on their way to a non-government organization activity but the van was intercepted by operatives, said a police official.

Police Officer 3 Vilma Degamo of Cordova Women and Children Protection Desk said that six members of Bidlisiw Foundation, a non-government organization, were letting minors, 6 boys and 3 girls, aboard a Starrex van to conduct an awareness on online safety child trafficking and where to report them.

Senior Police Officer 2 Laurencio Wagwag, desk officer of Cordova Police Station, said they received a call from a concerned citizen, who informed them about the van, at 7 p.m.

The Cordova police operatives returned to the station with the minors 30 minutes later to interview them.

Meanwhile, a van full of minors that was intercepted in Cordova town was not a kidnapping case but an educational awareness activity.

Earlier, six persons were apprehended for attempting to kidnap a 10-year-old Grade 4 pupil of Minglanilla Central School around noon Thursday. [Source: SunStar]
