Robredo camp slams impeachment threat: 'Walang basehang pananakot'

The camp of Vice President Leni Robredo on Sunday reproached House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez for what they dubbed as "baseless and irresponsible" threats to impeach the country's second highest official.

(From what we understand, there is no basis whatsoever for his threats. Issuing such statements was very irresponsible as these had no basis.)

Alvarez, in an interview with ABS-CBN News Channel, said Robredo may be ousted from office for allegedly betraying public trust when she sent a video message to the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs, where she criticized the government's war on drugs.

Hernandez, however, said Robredo did not seek to humiliate the administration but renew instead the country's commitment to addressing alleged human rights violations in the anti-narcotics crackdown.

[Read full: Abs-Cbn]
